Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade reported rice exports from January to November of 5.7 million tonnes worth $2.86 billion, up 16.8% in value year-on-year. Average export prices reached $504 per tonne, up 12.3%, and Tan Long Group won a contract to export 118,000 tonnes to the Philippines.
Stronger Vietnamese export values and new contracts in Southeast Asia support firmer global rice prices. Diversification away from China reduces dependence on a single weak market.
