The Philippines rice tariffication bill, Senate Bill 1998, is due to be signed into law and would remove quantitative import restrictions. Imports from Southeast Asia would face a 35 percent tariff, with higher rates for other origins.
Industries that use rice byproducts are also expected to feel the effects.
