USDA forecasts global sunflower oil trade rising to the second-highest level on record, with consumption reaching 19.9 million tonnes on strong demand from China, India and the EU. Global sunflower production is projected to slip to 50.95 million tonnes in 2019/20 due to lower output in Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.
Tighter sunflower seed supply and rising oil demand point to firmer sunflower oil prices, and crushing for oil drives meal output, so meal supply may tighten as well. Feed buyers should watch sunflower meal availability.
