A USDA Economic Research Service analysis finds that China's increased soybean imports from Brazil and Canada offset only part of lost U.S. imports. Chinese imports of U.S. soybeans fell by nearly 22 million tons in October 2018 to March 2019.
The shift of Chinese demand to Brazil supports South American soybean prices and limits the recovery potential for U.S. soybean exports. The analysis is background rather than a new price driver.
