USDA NASS data show October 2019 average prices in Wisconsin of $3.76 per bushel for corn, $8.53 for soybeans and $3.57 for oats, with corn and soybeans both higher than in September. Alfalfa hay rose to $213 per ton and other hay to $149 per ton.
These are backward-looking price levels, but they confirm that feed grain and forage costs firmed through the autumn, raising input costs for livestock feeders.
