Chinese importers bought at least two cargoes of U.S. soybeans, about 120,000 tonnes, after a new round of tariff-free quotas, with traders reporting up to 400,000 tonnes booked. These are the first purchases since the interim deal was announced.
Traders warn they may be China's last large U.S. buys before Brazilian soybeans arrive next month.
Fresh tariff-free buying supports U.S. soybean prices near term, but expected Brazilian supply in January could cap demand for U.S. beans.
