Queensland and NSW sorghum values rose over recent weeks on reported export sales to China, with new-crop Darling Downs bids up $25 to about $295. Chinese feed grain imports are also running well above last year, with corn imports up about a third year to date.
Strong Chinese demand for Australian sorghum, mostly for alcohol production, supports local feed grain prices and competes with US sorghum for export business. Wheat and barley also firmed on global strength.
