China's live pig prices have fallen about 23% year on year to 29.82 yuan/kg, while pork prices are down 18.6%. Pig numbers are rising as producers rebuild herds after African swine fever, and MARA expects pork supply to rise about 30% by Spring Festival 2021.
China also suspended meat imports from Germany and Poland after Europe's first ASF case in pigs.
Rebuilding Chinese herds reduces demand for imported pork and future feed purchases, which is bearish for feed ingredients and hog prices.
