A Congressional Research Service report from October 5, 2020 details U.S. farm revenue support outlays under the ARC and PLC programs for 2014-2020. It notes that corn, soybeans and wheat made up 83% of the 260 million base acres enrolled in the 2014 sign-up.
Base acreage fell to 253.5 million under the 2019 sign-up.
Changes in base acre enrollment and support payments shape the revenue cushion behind planting decisions for the largest feed grains, but the report has little immediate effect on prices.
