CBOT corn and wheat futures edged lower on 28 October as a firmer dollar made US grain less attractive to importers. Corn export sales were weaker than expected, and Chinese purchases of US corn trailed prior years.
Rain in the US Plains lifted wheat, with KC December HRW closing 7-1/4 cents lower.
A stronger dollar and weak export demand reduce US feed grain competitiveness and cap corn and wheat prices, while a firmer dollar also weighs on dollar-priced commodities.
