Ukraine's Economy Ministry proposed a sunflowerseed export ban from 15 May through 30 September 2021, with a quota set at zero tonnes. Sunflowerseed prices rose more than 2.1x this marketing year, and exports for September-March rose 6.8x year on year.
A proposed export ban would remove a major source of seed supply from world markets, pushing sunflower meal and oil prices sharply higher.
