The dollar rose on August 12 after US producer prices jumped 7.8% over the 12 months through July, the largest annual increase in more than a decade. Jobless claims also fell, adding to signs of economic recovery.
Stronger inflation data increases the chance the Fed tightens sooner, supporting the dollar and making dollar-priced commodities more expensive for overseas buyers. Persistent input cost inflation also raises the cost of producing feed ingredients.
