Emerging market currencies gained on Sept 30 as central banks kept tightening policy. The Czech crown rose about 1% against the euro after a 75 basis point hike, and the Polish zloty rose after minutes suggested a rate rise may be imminent.
The dollar was near one-year highs, while Mexico and Colombia were expected to hike by 25 basis points.
Stronger local currencies and higher rates in emerging markets can reduce import costs for feed buyers in those countries. A firm dollar, however, raises the cost of dollar-priced grain and meal for importers with weaker currencies.
