The dollar traded near a one-year high as traders priced in Fed tightening. Sterling stayed close to a nine-month low around $1.3436, and the Australian dollar rose to about $0.7186 after dipping to its lowest since late August.
A firmer dollar makes US commodities more expensive for overseas buyers, which tends to weigh on grain and oilseed export demand and prices.
