India's government may cut import duty on rock phosphate and sulphur used to make DAP in the Budget. The country imports about 95% of its DAP needs and about 30% of its urea.
Lower duties on DAP inputs could boost domestic production and reduce import demand, modestly easing pressure on global DAP import prices.
