USDA's December 9 WASDE projected lower US milk production for 2021 and 2022 on fewer dairy cows and slower per-cow growth. Butter, cheese and whey price forecasts were raised, and the 2021 all-milk price forecast was lifted to $18.60 per cwt.
Smaller milk supply and firmer product prices point to higher dairy commodity values for feed buyers, supporting demand for dairy-linked feed and reducing expectations of cheap milk.
