EU agriculture ministers are scheduled to discuss the proposed regulation on products associated with deforestation on 21 February. The rules cover six commodities and their derivatives, with a review clause allowing scope changes.
Ministers may also consider extending the scope to other commodities and ecosystems.
A possible widening of the commodity list could add pressure on feed protein and vegoil supplies into the EU, though the proposal is still at an early stage.
