IFFO estimates global fishmeal output in 2021 at 2.443 million tonnes, up from 2.359 million in 2020, with Peru, Chile and India increasing output. Fish oil production fell almost 6% to about 546,000 tonnes, and China's fishmeal imports may again hit record levels in 2022.
Stronger fishmeal supply is offset by record Chinese import demand and falling fish oil output, leaving fishmeal reasonably supplied while fish oil tightens.
