The IEA cut its 2022 global gas demand growth forecast to slightly below zero, a revision of about 50 billion cubic meters. European gas consumption is expected to fall nearly 6% due to high prices and supply disruptions from the war in Ukraine.
Lower projected demand eases pressure on global gas supply, which is bearish for gas prices, though spot LNG prices remain elevated and European substitution keeps demand for LNG strong.
