China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued a revised standard for fermented soybean meal, effective October 1, 2022. The article estimates China produced close to two million tonnes of fermented feed raw materials in 2021, mostly post-fermentation residues.
A formal feed standard may expand the use of fermented soybean meal as a substitute for conventional soybean meal in Chinese feed. The volume is small relative to total feed protein demand, so the price effect is limited.
