Global fishmeal and fish oil output has dropped after Peru cancelled its main north-central anchovy season in June 2023. IFFO says fishmeal output through May was down 10% year over year, with Peru down about 50% and fish oil down 22%.
Peru is the largest reduction fishery in the world, so the loss of its season tightens global fishmeal and fish oil supply and supports higher prices for feed buyers.
