India allowed exports of non-basmati white rice cargoes that had been held at ports after an earlier ban. The move eases a previously sudden restriction on one of the most widely consumed rice varieties.

Releasing trapped rice adds some supply to the export market, which slightly eases the pressure from the earlier ban. The effect is limited while broader curbs remain in place.
