CoBank economist Corey Geiger says US butterfat production has outpaced milk growth over the past decade, with butterfat up 27% against 15% for milk. US butterfat exports rose 43% in 2022 to 81,721 mt, led by gains to Canada and Mexico.
Growing butterfat exports could widen outlets for US dairy solids, supporting milk component prices and dairy feed demand over time.
