Rail operations at the two Texas border towns resumed after a closure of about five days. The closure had affected two of the six available rail border crossings between the U.S. and Mexico.
Union Pacific and BNSF reported that shipments of automotive, chemicals and other consumer goods were halted during the shutdown.
Resumed rail flows should ease the backlog of grain and feed trains bound for Mexico, which supports prices that had softened during the stoppage. The effect on grain prices should fade as the queue clears.
