By November 27, 82% of French soft wheat was planted against 99% a year earlier and a 95% long-term average, and the crop rating fell to 80% good to excellent.
Winter barley sowing was 92% complete, with its rating also declining.
Late planting and falling crop ratings in the EU's biggest grain producer raise yield risk and support European feed grain prices. Its effect on world wheat prices depends on whether the sowing delay becomes a lasting crop loss.
