Asian currencies traded in tight ranges after US inflation data showed the lowest annual rate in three years, which kept expectations alive for a Federal Reserve rate cut in June. The ringgit gained 0.1% and was heading for a 0.8% weekly rise, its best in two months.
Softer US inflation weakens the dollar and supports emerging-market currencies, which lowers import costs for Asian feed buyers. The effect on grain and oilseed prices is limited.
