The British pound is outperforming more than 90% of global currencies in 2024 as the UK economy proves more resilient than expected, keeping rates higher for longer. The pound rose to around $1.29, its highest in seven months, while traders expect Bank of England easing only from August.
A stronger pound with higher UK rates reflects a softer dollar against sterling, which can marginally reduce the local-currency cost of dollar-priced feed imports for UK buyers.
