The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) entered into force in June 2023, with its main prohibitions applying from 30 December 2024. Relevant palm oil, soy, wood, cocoa, coffee, cattle and rubber products must be deforestation-free, legal, and covered by a due diligence statement.
A possible delay in the country risk classification is under discussion.
Compliance requirements could restrict EU market access for palm oil and soy derivatives, which may weigh on EU import demand and prices for those products. A delay in country risk ratings would reduce near-term disruption risk.
