At a Ways and Means hearing, Rep. Adrian Smith pressed USTR Katherine Tai on the USMCA dispute over Mexico's phase-out of US yellow corn and ban on GM white corn for human use.
Tai said the US is actively litigating the case, while Smith said the White House has been silent on it.
Continued dispute without resolution leaves Mexican demand for US yellow corn at risk over the longer term, but no immediate change in trade flows results from the exchange.
