France's farm ministry forecasts soft wheat output falling 15% to 29.65 million tonnes, the lowest since 2020, after heavy rain cut planting and yield potential. Winter barley was also cut 17% and total barley is pegged 8% lower.
France is the EU's top wheat exporter, so a sharply smaller crop tightens EU export supply and supports European and Black Sea wheat prices.
