Indonesia, Malaysia and the EU are working on a guide to help smallholders comply with EU deforestation rules. The EUDR requires importers of soy, beef, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, timber and rubber to show their supply chains are not linked to forest destruction.
Smallholder compliance is a constraint on palm oil supply, so a workable guide could ease future export bottlenecks. The near-term price effect is minimal.
