IFFO reports Peruvian anchovy supply rose sharply year-on-year, making 2024 fishmeal production higher than 2023 while other regions declined over the first nine months. Nearly 20% of the 2.51 million tonne North-Centre quota was already caught since the season opened on 1 November, the third-highest quota in a decade.
A larger Peruvian fishmeal supply eases the tight global fishmeal market, which can soften fishmeal prices and reduce the pull on soymeal and other protein substitutes in feed formulations.
