DTN named the lack of a new farm bill its top agricultural story of 2024 and noted Congress passed a one-year farm bill extension on December 20. The extension included $10 billion in economic aid for commodity crops and another $20.7 billion in disaster-related aid tied largely to Hurricane Helene.
Congress will need to restart work on a new five-year bill.
