Analysts following USDA's Cattle on Feed and Cattle Inventory reports released Friday said the herd is not expanding and feedlot placements keep declining. The inventory showed the smallest US herd on record, and an analyst expects prices to keep rising but at a slower pace.
A record-small herd and falling placements keep cattle supplies tight, supporting high cattle prices and reducing demand for feed grains in feedlots over time.
