USDA forecast a record U.S. corn crop of 16.7 billion bushels, with corn yield at a record 188.8 bushels per acre. The agency raised soybean yield to a record 53.6 bushels per acre but cut soybean production by 43 million bushels to 4.292 billion.
Analysts called the new-crop corn stocks estimate bearish.
The record corn yield and larger production point to ample feed grain supplies and lower corn prices through harvest. The smaller soybean crop offers modest support to soybean meal prices.
