Ben Brown of University of Missouri Extension said USDA's quarterly Grain Stocks report showed about 200 million bushels more corn than expected as of September 1, adding to record new-crop supply. He noted reduced feed use from fewer cattle and no feeder cattle from Mexico, plus pressure from sorghum and a larger wheat crop.
Heavier corn supply and cheaper competing feed grains should keep corn and sorghum prices under pressure, which gives livestock feeders a chance to buy feed more cheaply.
