Eurostat's flash estimate put euro area inflation at 2.1% in October, down from 2.2% in September and close to the ECB's 2% target. Core inflation held at 2.4%, above forecasts.
Lagarde said progress was welcome but flagged wage and global risks.
Sticky core inflation reduces the chance of near-term ECB cuts, which supports the euro and slightly lowers the cost of dollar-priced imports for European feed buyers.
