China's yuan strengthened to a more-than-one-month high against the dollar on Monday, past 7.11 per dollar. The move followed weekend talks in which Chinese and US economic officials outlined a trade deal framework for leaders to decide later in the week.
The central bank also set the fixing firmer than expected.
A stronger yuan reflects trade optimism that supports Chinese soybean purchase expectations, a bullish factor for US soy and meal prices. The currency move itself mainly changes import purchasing power.
