The Malaysian Palm Oil Council said the EU's 12-month extension of the EUDR does not change existing compliance obligations for Malaysian palm oil exporters. The council added that the delay gives the industry more time to push for Malaysia to be classed as a low-risk producer.
Malaysian exporters must still provide full due diligence information, so the delay has limited direct effect on palm oil shipments, though a possible low-risk benchmark could ease future EU access costs.
