Parliament and Council negotiators reached a provisional agreement to postpone the EU Deforestation Regulation by one year for all businesses. Large operators must comply from 30 December 2026 and small operators from 30 June 2027, with simplified traceability and due diligence rules.
The extra year and simpler rules reduce compliance costs for importers of soy, palm oil and cattle products into the EU, supporting continued flows and limiting price premiums for compliant supply.
