India agreed to cut or eliminate import duties on a range of US farm products, including soybean oil, according to a joint statement on an interim trade framework released in the US. Soybean oil rose to its highest level in more than six months on expectations of higher Indian purchases.
Lower Indian duties could pull US soyoil into a major importing market, supporting US soyoil prices and demand. The effect depends on whether US supplies can compete with cheaper South American oil after freight.
