India's commerce ministry notified the permission for 2.5 million tonnes of wheat exports, with the decision first announced on February 13. A separate 0.5 million tonnes of wheat flour and related products is also allowed.
Central pool wheat stocks are projected at 18.2 million tonnes as of April 1.
The formal notification confirms that Indian wheat can enter export markets, which adds competing supply and may cap wheat price gains. Exporters must still await modalities, so near-term shipments are uncertain.
