India's DGFT issued Notification 13/2026-27 on 27 April 2026 keeping wheat exports prohibited while permitting an additional 25 lakh metric tonnes under a controlled quota. Exports will proceed under separate modalities to be set out in a later public notice.
Adding 2.5 mt of permitted Indian wheat exports to the world supply adds export demand for other origins' wheat and supports global wheat prices, though the ban framework limits the volume.
