The rand rebounded as signs of progress toward a US-Iran peace agreement lifted global risk appetite and emerging-market assets. The currency traded near 16.43 per dollar, about 1.5% stronger, while oil fell below $110 a barrel.
Lower oil prices and improved risk sentiment strengthen the rand and ease energy-linked inflation pressure. Falling crude could also reduce biofuel and input-cost support for feed commodities.
