NASS reported July 2026 US cheese output at 1.26 billion pounds, up 2.1 percent year over year, with Italian-type up and American-type down. Butter output rose 5.5 percent from a year earlier but fell 9.0 percent from June, and dry whey rose 17.3 percent.
Growing cheese and whey output adds to dairy solids supply, which tends to keep processing-product prices under pressure. Butter's monthly decline is a small offset.
