Malaysia is considering extending its B10 biodiesel mandate, which requires 10% palm oil use, from transport to the industrial sector. The plantations and commodities minister also reiterated plans for B20 nationwide, which would lift crude palm oil consumption above 1 million tonnes a year, and B30 by 2025.
Expanded biodiesel mandates would add significant domestic palm oil demand and tighten exportable supply, which is supportive for palm oil prices. The size of the effect depends on implementation timing, which remains uncertain.
