USDA reported that China imported a record 37.8 million tons of major feed grains from October 2023 to May 2024, nearly double the prior year. Corn imports reached 20.7 million tons, mostly from Brazil, while barley imports hit a record 11.7 million tons and sorghum imports reached 5.2 million tons.
Record Chinese feed grain demand supports global feed grain prices, but Brazilian and other low-priced origins are capturing much of that volume, limiting gains for U.S. corn and sorghum exporters.
