USDA data cited by Nikkei show China has placed no orders for U.S. corn and soybeans since January 16, 2025. Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods reached up to 145%, prompting a 125% Chinese tariff on U.S. products.
The absence of Chinese orders and the prohibitive tariff rates reduce export demand for U.S. grains and push U.S. prices lower relative to competitors.
