Netherlands authorities have rejected several Argentine soymeal cargoes after testing detected the HB4 drought-resistant soy strain, which is approved in Argentina and China but lacks authorisation in the EU. Industry group CIARA-CEC says farmers and crushers are working to segregate HB4 soy from the rest of the crop, and importers in Europe are wary of further rejections.
Risk of wider EU rejections of Argentine soymeal, a major export, could divert meal demand toward other origins and weigh on Argentine soymeal prices and export flows.
