Canadian analyst Jerry Klassen says feed barley and wheat prices have trended higher, with feedlots paying $270 to $275 per tonne for late-December delivery. Strong Canadian export demand has pulled barley supplies toward offshore buyers, and Statistics Canada's updated production estimate is due December 4.
Barley exports for 2025/26 reached 1.16 million tonnes versus 800,000 a year earlier.
Export pull is tightening domestic feed barley availability ahead of the seasonal January peak in feedlot demand, supporting Canadian feed grain prices. A larger-than-expected StatCan crop could cap gains.
